Lucknow Bank Manager's Death Under Investigation Amid Murder and Fraud Allegations

The mysterious death of a deputy manager at a private bank in Lucknow has taken a dramatic turn, with his wife filing a First Information Report (FIR) on Friday, alleging financial fraud and murder against acquaintances of the victim. The case has drawn significant attention from local authorities as they delve into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

Details of the Incident and Initial Findings

Qazi Ahmad Zaid, a 40-year-old bank employee, was discovered dead in his residence in the Gudamba area on Monday under highly suspicious conditions. Police reports indicate that he sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head, allegedly from an illegal pistol found at the scene. The discovery has raised numerous questions, prompting a thorough investigation by law enforcement officials.

According to Zaid's wife, Taiyyaba Khan, the situation escalated from a financial dispute. She claims that the wife of one of Zaid's friends manipulated him into complex financial arrangements and later threatened to frame him in fabricated legal cases. This allegation forms the core of the FIR, which accuses the individuals of involvement in both fraud and potential homicide.

Financial Dispute and Loan Controversy

The financial entanglement began in October 2025, when Zaid facilitated a loan amounting to approximately Rs 28-30 lakh for his friend's wife. This loan was intended for the purchase of a second-hand Mercedes car. Police investigations have revealed that, although the loan was officially registered in the woman's name, Zaid was responsible for making the monthly EMI payments. Authorities are currently working to determine the reasons behind his decision to cover these repayments.

Taiyyaba Khan further alleges that the woman later demanded an additional Rs 50 lakh from Zaid and threatened to implicate him in false cases if he did not comply. In response, the woman reportedly filed a complaint with the Gudumba police and Zaid's bank, accusing him of obtaining the loan in her name without her consent. A compromise was brokered by the police, stipulating that the woman would transfer the car to Zaid, who would continue to handle the EMIs.

However, instead of adhering to this agreement, the woman allegedly sold the vehicle for Rs 24.5 lakh and provided only Rs 9.5 lakh to Zaid, according to Taiyyaba's claims. This breach of trust has become a focal point in the ongoing investigation, highlighting potential motives for the subsequent events.

Murder Allegations and Police Response

The FIR also suggests that Zaid's death may have been a murder orchestrated by the accused. He was found deceased on the terrace of his home, with a firearm nearby. Taiyyaba has stated that Zaid did not possess any licensed or unlicensed weapons, casting doubt on the possibility of suicide and pointing toward foul play.

In response to these serious allegations, ACP Anindya Vikram Singh of Ghazipur (Indira Nagar) confirmed that an FIR has been registered under charges including murder, insult, and criminal intimidation against the accused individuals. The police are actively pursuing all leads to uncover the truth behind Zaid's untimely demise and the associated financial irregularities.

As the investigation progresses, authorities are examining all aspects of the case, from the financial transactions to the circumstances of the death, to ensure justice is served. The community awaits further updates as this complex and troubling story unfolds.
