A 55-year-old home guard was tragically killed in a hit-and-run accident in the Mahanagar area of Lucknow late on Sunday night, according to police statements released on Monday. The victim, identified as Yogendra Nath Shukla, served as a home guard at the chief minister's official residence located at 5 Kalidas Marg.

Details of the Fatal Accident

The accident occurred around 10:30 PM near the Sai Mandir Smriti Vatika. Shukla, a resident of Purana Hyderabad in Mahanagar, was riding his bicycle when he was struck by an unidentified four-wheeler vehicle. The impact left him with critical injuries.

Emergency services transported Shukla to the trauma center for immediate medical treatment. However, doctors declared him dead upon arrival, confirming the severity of his injuries.

Police Investigation and Legal Proceedings

Local police officers promptly arrived at the accident scene and conducted inquest proceedings in the presence of the victim's family members. Following standard protocol, Shukla's body was sent to the mortuary for a comprehensive post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Yogendra Nath Shukla had worked his morning shift on February 8, just hours before the tragic incident. According to colleagues, Shukla was a bachelor who lived alone in a rented room in Lucknow. He originally hailed from Bazaarkhala.

Shukla is survived by his father, Ram Snehi Shukla, and his brother, Upendra Shukla. The family has been cooperating with police investigators as they seek justice for their loved one.
