Lucknow Unearths Rs 1 Crore Job Fraud Targeting 150 Victims Through Fake NGOs

In a shocking revelation from Lucknow, a sophisticated job fraud scheme has defrauded approximately 150 individuals from Gorakhpur, Deoria, and Maharajganj of nearly Rs 1 crore. The scam, orchestrated under the guise of employment opportunities with a fake NGO, has prompted victims to file a formal complaint at the Vikasnagar Police Station.

How the Fraud Unfolded: Fake Foundations and False Promises

According to police reports, the accused operated through two fraudulent organizations: Break Foundation and Jeevan Path Foundation. They falsely claimed to have secured a tuberculosis awareness campaign project from the health department, using this as bait to lure job seekers. Complainant Chandramani Tiwari, a resident of Maharajganj, detailed how he was contacted by Parasnath Kharwar, who offered lucrative salaries ranging from Rs 31,500 to Rs 90,000 per month.

Applicants were instructed to deposit hefty registration fees between Rs 90,000 and Rs 1.10 lakh for recruitment. Victims were summoned to an office in Vikasnagar, where they met another accused, Shipin, who pressured them into making quick payments and forming field teams for the supposed TB awareness drive.

Elaborate Deception: Training Sessions and Fake Appointment Letters

To lend credibility to their scheme, the accused conducted a training session at a hotel in Mahanagar and issued counterfeit appointment letters to candidates. This elaborate setup convinced many victims to part with their money, believing they had secured legitimate employment.

However, the fraud unraveled when recruits began fieldwork and were questioned by health department officials. It was then revealed that no such tuberculosis awareness project existed, exposing the entire operation as a sham.

Aftermath and Police Action

Upon realizing they had been duped, victims attempted to contact the accused, only to find their phones switched off and the Vikasnagar office locked. Among those who filed complaints are Garima Pathak and Musheer Ahmad from Gorakhpur, along with Manisha Patel from Maharajganj.

The police have registered an FIR based on the victims' statements and are actively investigating the case to apprehend the three accused involved. This incident highlights the growing menace of employment scams in the region and serves as a cautionary tale for job seekers to verify opportunities thoroughly before making any financial commitments.
