Lucknow Man Dies by Suicide on Video Call, Girlfriend Booked

Lucknow: Chinhat Police have registered a case of abetment to suicide following allegations that a young man was driven to take his own life due to sustained harassment and financial exploitation by a woman he was living with. The man died while on a video call with the woman.

Details of the Incident

According to the FIR, filed by Rajesh Chandra Mishra of Basti, his son Akarsh Mishra was residing in Astha Nagar, Matiyari. The complaint alleges that Akarsh was in a relationship with a woman identified as Akanksha Verma, who was living with him at the same address.

Mental Harassment and Financial Pressure

The complainant has alleged that Verma repeatedly subjected Akarsh to mental harassment and pressure and had also forced him to take a loan of Rs 1,00,500, the proceeds of which were allegedly taken by her.

The Fateful Day

On April 21, the accused woman left the residence but continued to call Akarsh, allegedly causing further mental stress. The complaint states that under pressure, Akarsh died by suicide while on a video call with her.

Delayed Response

It has further been alleged that despite being aware of the situation, the accused informed neighbours about the incident only after nearly an hour, by which time Akarsh had already died.

The police are investigating the matter and further details are awaited.
