Lucknow Police Initiates Intensive 3-Day Crackdown on Banned Chinese Manjha

In a decisive move to address a surge in fatal accidents, the Lucknow Police has launched a rigorous three-day special enforcement drive targeting the storage, sale, and use of banned Chinese manjha. This action comes under direct instructions from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, as confirmed by Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Babloo Kumar on Thursday.

Rising Accidents Prompt Urgent Police Action

Joint Commissioner Kumar highlighted that multiple incidents involving Chinese manjha have been reported recently, leading to tragic loss of lives and severe injuries, particularly among two-wheeler riders and pedestrians. "Keeping these accidents in mind, district police conducted periodic checking drives, and now a focused special campaign is launched for the next three days," he stated. The enforcement drive aims to curb the hazardous use of this banned material, which has become a significant public safety concern in the city.

Strict Legal Measures and Accountability Framework

All station house officers, chowki in-charges, deputy commissioners of police, and other field officers have received explicit instructions to take stringent legal action against anyone involved in the stocking, sale, or use of Chinese manjha or related materials. Police teams are directed to gather intelligence, identify violators, conduct raids, and ensure prompt registration of cases under relevant legal provisions.

Kumar emphasized that senior police officers will closely monitor the drive and review the action taken at the station house officer level on a daily basis. "Accountability is fixed. Senior officers will take regular reviews of the enforcement carried out by SHOs and field staff to ensure that the campaign is implemented in letter and spirit," he added. Warning of a zero-tolerance policy, Kumar noted that negligence in enforcement or laxity at any level will not be tolerated.

Zero-Tolerance Policy Against Violators

In a stern message, Kumar declared, "Those who are irresponsibly using Chinese manjha, as well as those facilitating its sale or storage, will face stringent legal action." The crackdown underscores the administration's commitment to public safety and adherence to legal norms, with the goal of preventing further accidents and ensuring strict compliance with the ban on Chinese manjha across Lucknow.
