In a significant move to bolster women's safety, the Lucknow Police has launched a citywide network of dedicated mobile numbers, establishing direct and accountable communication channels for women and children across all police stations. This initiative marks Lucknow as the first police unit in Uttar Pradesh to implement such a comprehensive, barrier-free system.
A Direct Line for Faster Response
Acting on the directives of Police Commissioner Amrendra Kumar Sengar, special Closed User Group (CUG) numbers have been activated at Mission Shakti Centres in all 53 police stations in the state capital. The system is designed to cut through bureaucratic red tape and eliminate delays. Unlike conventional helplines with multiple layers, this network ensures person-to-person contact, allowing complainants to directly reach the officer in charge of the Mission Shakti Centre at their nearest police station without any intermediaries.
Senior officers emphasize that this direct access enables immediate assessment of complaints, faster field intervention, and time-bound action. Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Saumya Pandey stated that each centre now has a dedicated CUG number for instant contact with the designated officer, aiming for swift resolution of grievances.
Confidentiality and Comprehensive Support
The initiative, launched under the Mission Shakti 5.0 campaign, aligns with the state government's vision and the directives of the Director General of Police. It focuses on rapid prevention and response to a range of crimes, including molestation, domestic violence, cybercrime, stalking, and harassment.
"Rapid prevention and response to crimes against women and girls are backed by a strong institutional support system. Complainants' identities will be kept strictly confidential, with complaints handled sensitively and promptly," assured ACP Saumya Pandey.
Pandey also highlighted the seamless integration of this new CUG network with existing support systems. It is linked with the Women's Power Line 1090, the emergency number 112, and the UP COP App to ensure immediate assistance in critical situations.
Key Contact Numbers and a Call to Action
The Lucknow Police has released the dedicated numbers for several police stations and urged women and girls to actively use this facility. They describe it as a firm step towards a zero-tolerance policy for crimes against women.
Some of the key CUG numbers include:
- Gomtinagar: 9454451849
- Indiranagar: 9454451182
- Chowk: 9454451185
- Hazratganj: 9454451504
- PGI: 9454451707
- Sushant Golf City: 9454451722
This network empowers women and children to directly contact the Mission Shakti Centre in charge at their local police station for immediate assistance and swift redressal of grievances. The Lucknow Police's pioneering model sets a new standard for personalized, accountable, and efficient safety mechanisms in the state.
