Lucknow Police Conducts Intensive Three-Day Traffic Enforcement Drive
In a major crackdown on traffic violations, the Lucknow Police executed a comprehensive three-day special checking campaign targeting two-wheelers across the city from April 3 to April 5. The operation yielded significant results, with authorities issuing a staggering 5,410 challans and seizing 293 vehicles for various infractions.
Widespread Vehicle Checks Across All City Zones
Police officials meticulously checked a total of 18,649 vehicles spanning all five administrative zones of Lucknow: western, central, northern, eastern, and southern. To ensure maximum coverage, enforcement teams established barricades and conducted checks in three distinct shifts throughout each day.
- Morning Shift: 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM
- Afternoon Shift: 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM
- Night Shift: 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM
The campaign focused on key traffic intersections and high-density areas, including Kaiserbagh, Hussainganj, Nakkhas, Atal Chowk, Telibagh, 1090 Chauraha, IT Chauraha, Nishatganj Crossing, and Awadh Chauraha.
Targeted Violations and Enforcement Actions
Police took stringent action against a wide array of traffic offenses during the special drive. The most commonly cited violations included:
- Riding without helmets
- Use of modified or illegal silencers
- Triple riding on two-wheelers
- Speeding and reckless driving
- Performing dangerous stunts on roads
- Driving on the wrong side of the road
- Operating vehicles without valid documents
- Using vehicles without proper number plates
Public Awareness and Official Statements
Alongside enforcement, police personnel also conducted awareness drives to educate citizens about traffic safety. Authorities appealed to the public to strictly adhere to traffic regulations, avoid using mobile phones while driving, and adopt safe riding practices at all times.
Police Commissioner Amarendra Kumar Sengar emphasized that this intensive drive forms part of a long-term commitment to reduce road accidents and save lives in the city. He stated that such strict enforcement initiatives will continue in the future to ensure safer roads across Lucknow.
The commissioner reiterated that sustained enforcement combined with public cooperation is essential for creating a safer traffic environment and preventing avoidable accidents on city roads.
