The child was reportedly pushed to the ground and then kicked and punched repeatedly by the attackers. In a particularly cruel act, the accused students allegedly rubbed the heel of a shoe against the child's eye and face, causing severe injuries that subsequently led to loss of vision in one eye.

The victim's mother initially approached the school administration seeking action against the perpetrators, but when no steps were taken, she filed a formal complaint at the cantonment police station. Station House Officer (SHO) Cantt, Gurpreet Kaur, confirmed that an FIR has been registered under multiple charges:
