Lucknow Police Intensifies Traffic Enforcement with Major Drive
In a significant crackdown on traffic violations, the Lucknow Police executed a special enforcement drive on Saturday, resulting in the inspection of nearly 7,300 vehicles. During this operation, authorities seized 40 vehicles and issued a staggering 1,508 challans to vehicle owners for various rule infractions. The drive was strategically organized to maximize impact during peak traffic hours, underscoring the police's commitment to enhancing road safety and order in the city.
Targeted Time Slots and Key Locations
The enforcement action was meticulously planned across three high-impact time slots to address traffic congestion and violations effectively. These included the morning rush from 7 AM to 9 AM, the afternoon period from 12 PM to 2 PM, and the late evening hours from 9 PM to 11 PM. The drive focused on busy intersections known for heavy vehicular movement, such as 1090 Crossing, IT Chauraha, Nishatganj, and Kaiserbagh. By covering these critical points, police aimed to deter reckless driving and ensure compliance with traffic regulations during the city's busiest times.
Common Violations and Police Response
According to DCP Traffic, Raveena Tyagi, the drive revealed a significant number of violations, with many cases involving helmetless riding, triple riding on two-wheelers, modified silencers, and vehicles operating without proper number plates or valid documents. In response, several motorcycles were seized due to illegal alterations and missing paperwork, highlighting the police's zero-tolerance approach towards such offenses. This proactive measure is part of broader efforts to curb accidents and promote responsible driving behavior among citizens.
Future Plans for Continued Enforcement
Police Commissioner Amrendra Kumar Sengar emphasized that such enforcement drives will continue with greater intensity in the coming days. He stated that the police are committed to maintaining strict vigilance on roads to ensure public safety and reduce traffic-related incidents. This announcement signals a sustained campaign against traffic violations, with plans to expand operations and increase penalties for offenders, reinforcing the message that adherence to traffic rules is non-negotiable for all vehicle users in Lucknow.
