Tragic Suicide in Lucknow After Husband's Hurtful 'Monkey' Remark
A heartbreaking incident has shaken the Indiranagar area of Lucknow, where a 23-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide at her residence in Takrohi. The tragedy unfolded after she was deeply hurt by a derogatory remark made by her husband in the presence of her sister.
Details of the Disturbing Incident
The woman, an aspiring model, reportedly took the extreme step on Wednesday afternoon. According to information shared by her husband, who works as an auto-rickshaw driver, the couple had a love marriage four years ago and were at home with their son and the woman's sister. In what was described as banter, the man and his sister-in-law allegedly mocked the woman by calling her a "monkey". This remark reportedly caused significant emotional distress, leading her to leave the room without saying a word.
After the incident, the husband stepped out to bring food. Upon returning, he found his wife's room locked from inside. Despite repeated calls, there was no response. Peering through a window, he discovered her hanging. With the help of locals, the body was brought down and rushed to RMLIMS, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. The postmortem report later confirmed hanging as the cause of death.
Police Investigation and Community Response
The incident came to light on Thursday evening, drawing attention from authorities and the local community. Additional DCP of the North Zone, Amol Murkut, stated that he received information about the suicide from locals, but no formal complaint had been filed at the police station at that time. Police officials indicated that further action would be taken after examining the post-mortem report and recording statements from family members.
This tragic event highlights the severe impact of verbal abuse and derogatory comments within relationships. The woman's aspirations as a model and the couple's history of a love marriage add layers of complexity to this case, raising questions about mental health and interpersonal dynamics in modern households.
As the investigation continues, the community in Lucknow mourns the loss of a young life, underscoring the need for greater awareness and sensitivity in communication to prevent such devastating outcomes.
