Woman Found Hanging in Lucknow; Family Alleges Murder, Police Suspect Suicide
A 20-year-old woman was discovered hanging under suspicious circumstances in the Madeyganj area of Lucknow on Sunday morning, sparking a contentious investigation. The incident has led to conflicting claims, with the victim's family alleging murder, while police authorities are treating it as a potential suicide case, pending the outcome of a post-mortem examination.
Police Investigation and Initial Report
According to police officials, Ayan Khan, a resident of Tezi Kheda in the Para area, arrived at the Madeyganj police station around 7:15 am on Sunday. He was accompanied by his mother, Noori Khan, and reported that his partner had died by suicide at their rented accommodation in Mashalchi Tola. Khan informed the police that the woman had locked herself inside a room and hanged herself. In response, police teams swiftly rushed to the scene, where they collected evidence and documented the surroundings. The body was subsequently sent for a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death, with authorities emphasizing that the investigation is ongoing and reliant on forensic findings.
Family's Allegations and Background Details
In stark contrast to the police's initial assessment, the deceased woman's family has raised serious allegations, claiming foul play and suggesting that she was murdered. They provided background information, stating that the woman was married in Kanpur approximately one-and-a-half years ago. However, she later became acquainted with Ayan Khan through social media. Around five months ago, Khan allegedly brought her to Lucknow, where they had been living together without marriage, as confirmed by Madeyganj inspector Anjani Singh. The family's claims have added a layer of complexity to the case, highlighting potential motives and raising questions about the circumstances leading to her death.
Ongoing Investigation and Key Questions
The investigation remains active, with police focusing on gathering more evidence and awaiting the post-mortem report to clarify the cause of death. Key questions persist, including the nature of the relationship between the woman and Ayan Khan, the events leading up to the incident, and any possible signs of coercion or violence. Inspector Anjani Singh reiterated that while the initial evidence points toward suicide, all angles are being explored to ensure a thorough inquiry. The case has drawn attention to issues of domestic disputes and the challenges in determining the truth in such sensitive matters, underscoring the need for meticulous forensic and investigative procedures.
