Lucknow Activates Multi-Layered Security Plan for Amit Shah's Visit
In preparation for Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to Lucknow, authorities have implemented an extensive security and traffic management strategy. This comprehensive plan involves the deployment of more than 6,500 police and security personnel to ensure the safety and smooth flow of the event.
Zonal Division and Personnel Deployment
The security framework divides the venue and surrounding areas into 6 super zones, 9 zones, and 27 sectors, creating a structured approach to crowd control and monitoring. A significant force of over 3,000 police officers will be on active duty, supported by 5 companies of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and 1 company of the Rapid Action Force.
Leadership for this operation includes senior officers such as 6 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), 9 additional DCPs, and 29 assistant commissioners of police. They will be assisted by a substantial team comprising 101 inspectors, 940 sub-inspectors, and 1,868 head constables and constables.
Specialised Security Measures
To address potential threats, additional specialised units have been integrated into the security cover. These include:
- 3 bomb disposal squads for handling explosive devices
- 1 anti-mine team to secure the area from landmines
- 5 anti-sabotage checking teams to prevent tampering or attacks
- 1 Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) unit for counter-terrorism operations
- 1 National Security Guard (NSG) team equipped with sniper rifles and anti-drone systems
Support services have also been mobilized, with wireless communication units, 126 home guards, and Local Intelligence Unit teams actively participating in the operation.
Preparedness and Surveillance
Prior to the visit, mock drills were conducted to evaluate readiness. These exercises focused on:
- Route rehearsals to ensure efficient movement and coordination
- Crowd control techniques to manage large gatherings safely
- Medical emergency responses to address any health-related incidents
The entire venue and its surroundings will be under constant CCTV surveillance, monitored through a dedicated control room. Additionally, traffic diversions have been implemented on routes leading to the venue to minimize congestion and enhance security.
