Three Injured in Ludhiana Court Clash Over Old Case; Security Concerns Raised
Ludhiana Court Violence: 3 Injured in Brawl

A violent altercation inside the Ludhiana district court complex on Thursday left three individuals wounded, exposing glaring security lapses within the premises. The incident occurred around noon when two groups, present for a hearing, engaged in a physical confrontation that quickly turned bloody.

Details of the Courtroom Brawl

The clash took place on the first floor of the old court complex building. According to sources, members of both factions had arrived to attend a hearing related to a case registered by the City Jagraon police back in 2022. An argument broke out while they were seated outside a courtroom, which rapidly escalated into violence.

During the assault, one of the accused reportedly used a kadha (an iron bracelet) as a weapon, leading to injuries. The three injured men were identified as Govind Singh, Baljit, and Gurmeet. Following the brawl, police personnel present at the complex rushed the injured to the civil hospital for necessary medical treatment.

Police Investigation and Past Incidents

Upon receiving the alert, a team from the Division Number 5 police station, led by SHO Madhubala, reached the spot and initiated an investigation. While the SHO refrained from sharing specific details, ASI Dharamvir Singh confirmed that all individuals involved in the fight were accused in the same 2022 case. He stated that while no immediate arrests were made, a formal case would be registered in connection with the violent episode.

Local sources revealed a deeper backstory, indicating that the injured persons and their attackers were once associates but had turned into rivals due to internal differences. This incident is not an isolated one for the Ludhiana court complexes. In April of this year, an advocate was accused of assaulting a female colleague on the premises. Earlier, in September 2021, a man from Jalandhar and his cousin were attacked by unidentified persons in the parking area of the New Court Complex.

Rising Concerns Over Court Security

The brazen violence has sparked serious concerns about the safety and security arrangements within the court complex. An advocate present at the district court, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, expressed shock at seeing bloodshed within the court's corridors. He emphasized that this incident highlights the urgent need for stricter security protocols to prevent such occurrences in the future.

The legal community and visitors are now demanding that the authorities implement necessary measures, including enhanced surveillance and stricter access control, to ensure the court complex remains a secure environment for justice to be served without fear of violence.
