Delivery Boy Brutally Attacked in Ludhiana's Jassiyan Road Area
A shocking incident of violence unfolded in Ludhiana on Saturday evening when a 19-year-old delivery boy was allegedly attacked by a group of 10-15 persons. The victim, identified as Shivam, was returning home from work in the Jassiyan Road area when the assault occurred, leaving him with serious injuries.
Details of the Violent Assault
According to family members, Shivam works as a delivery boy for a logistics company. On Saturday late evening, as he was heading home after duty, more than a dozen individuals armed with sharp-edged weapons and sticks attacked him near Rajouri Garden. Lakhminder, Shivam's father, stated that the attack was completely unprovoked, with no apparent reason given by the assailants.
The family explained that since Shivam was alone at the time, he was unable to escape once the attack began. The miscreants inflicted severe injuries to his head, causing him to lose consciousness. He was immediately rushed to a hospital in critical condition, where he remains under medical care.
Possible Motive Behind the Attack
Nitish Dhawan, an acquaintance of Shivam, provided insight into a potential motive for the assault. He revealed that a few days prior to the incident, the sister of Shivam's friend had been harassed by the same group of individuals. Shivam had reportedly intervened, asking them to stop troubling her, which allegedly angered the assailants and led to the retaliatory attack.
Police Investigation Underway
The investigating officer, ASI Sukhwinder Singh, confirmed that the police have initiated a probe into the matter after receiving a formal complaint. Sources indicate that authorities are actively scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify the perpetrators. The police are confident that the assailants will be identified and apprehended soon, as they continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses.
This incident has raised concerns about safety in the area, with locals calling for increased police vigilance to prevent such violent occurrences in the future.
