Ludhiana Plumber Murder Case: Jealousy and Financial Dispute Lead to Poisoning Death
Police in Ludhiana have launched a comprehensive murder investigation following the tragic death of a local plumber, who succumbed after being allegedly forced to consume poison by three acquaintances. The victim, identified as Gurpreet Singh from Beed Gagda village, managed to provide a crucial "dying declaration" to authorities before passing away during medical treatment.
Victim's Final Statement and Charges Filed
Based on Gurpreet Singh's detailed testimony, investigators have formally charged three individuals with murder. The accused have been named as Happy, Geeta, and Geeta's wife. Inspector Surjit Singh, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Sadar Jagraon police station, confirmed that the case has been registered under the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
"The victim's business success reportedly created resentment among the accused," Inspector Singh stated, explaining the primary motive behind the attack. "Happy had been issuing repeated threats to Gurpreet over recent days, demanding that he cease working in the area."
Dual Motives: Professional Jealousy and Financial Dispute
The investigation has revealed that the crime stemmed from a toxic combination of professional rivalry and monetary conflict. All three suspects worked in the same plumbing trade as Gurpreet Singh, whose thriving business allegedly provoked envy.
Police disclosed an additional financial dimension to the case: the parties were embroiled in a dispute involving a transaction of ₹10,000, which further deteriorated their relationship. This monetary conflict appears to have exacerbated existing tensions.
Harrowing Attack Details from Dying Declaration
In his final statement to police, Gurpreet Singh described a terrifying encounter. The accused allegedly intercepted him on a road leading to a local cremation ground. The trio then overpowered the victim and forcibly administered a poisonous substance to him.
Following the attack, Gurpreet was rushed to a government hospital for emergency treatment. It was during this hospitalization that he provided his detailed account to police officers, shortly before succumbing to the effects of the toxin.
Investigation Progress and Legal Proceedings
The case was initially registered as an attempt to murder but was upgraded to a murder charge under the IPC following Gurpreet Singh's death. "The body has been handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination, which will officially determine the exact cause of death," Inspector Singh confirmed.
While the three suspects remain at large, police authorities have confirmed that multiple raids are currently underway across the district to apprehend them. The investigation continues as officers pursue all leads to bring the perpetrators to justice.
This tragic incident highlights the dangerous consequences of unresolved professional and financial conflicts within communities, with law enforcement now working diligently to ensure accountability for this alleged murder.
