Major Drug Bust in Ludhiana's Sidhwan Bet
In a significant crackdown on narcotics, the Ludhiana Rural Police have successfully apprehended two alleged drug peddlers and confiscated a substantial quantity of heroin. The operation, which took place near a village checkpoint, led to the recovery of 253 grams of heroin, dealing a blow to local drug trafficking activities.
The Arrest and Chase
The police team was stationed at a check post near a cold store in Abbupura village, Sidhwan Bet, when they noticed two men on a motorcycle acting suspiciously. Upon being signalled to stop, the duo allegedly attempted to flee the scene, turning their vehicle around in a bid to escape. This prompted an immediate chase by the alert police party, which resulted in their successful capture after a brief pursuit.
Identities and Recovery
The accused have been identified as Amarjit Singh, a resident of Gatti Rajoke in Firozpur, and his relative, Dharampreet Singh, from Kotaumra. A subsequent personal search of the two individuals led to the discovery and seizure of the illicit drug. The 253 grams of heroin found in their possession marks a significant haul for the police force in the region.
