In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Ludhiana rural police have successfully arrested a drug peddler after recovering a substantial quantity of heroin along with Rs 50,000 in suspected drug money from his possession. The accused has been identified as Rahul Goswami, a resident of Link Road, Mandi Mullanpur.
Details of the Arrest and Recovery
The arrest took place near Pul Aligarh Chowk in Jagraon, where the police acted on a specific tip-off. According to Inspector Parminder Singh, the Station House Officer (SHO) of City Jagraon police station, the accused was recently out on bail in a prior drug trafficking case. After securing bail, he had shifted his operations from trafficking narcotic capsules and tablets to selling heroin.
The police received intelligence that Goswami was transporting heroin from Mullanpur and supplying it in Jagraon and adjoining areas. A police team, led by Sub-Inspector Satpal Singh, conducted a raid based on this input. The accused was apprehended while waiting for customers in his car at the spot, with a significant quantity of heroin and the cash in his possession.

He was earlier implicated in cases related to narcotic capsules and tablets. The police emphasized that this arrest is part of ongoing efforts to curb drug abuse and trafficking in the region.
The recovery of Rs 50,000 is suspected to be proceeds from drug sales, highlighting the financial aspects of such illegal activities. The police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations to uncover any potential links or networks involved in the drug trade.
