Ludhiana Police Make Significant Arrest in Violent Robbery Case
In a significant development, the Ludhiana police have successfully apprehended an individual accused of involvement in a series of robbery incidents within the city. The arrest has led to the recovery of crucial evidence, including a motorcycle, five mobile phones, and a snatched purse from the possession of the arrested suspect.
Details of the Criminal Incident
Sharing comprehensive details of the case, ADCP Zone-3 Dev Singh and ACP (West) Jatinderpal Singh revealed that SHO Rajinder Pal Singh of the PAU Police Station received a formal statement from complainant Vikas Kumar on March 11. The complainant reported a disturbing incident that occurred on the evening of March 6 near a local market.
According to the official complaint, Vikas Kumar was approached by two men riding a black Hero Splendor motorcycle who deliberately blocked his path. The riders were identified as Pradeep, also known as Vadda Lalla from Pratap Singh Wala, and Rahul from F-Block, Rishi Nagar.
Violent Confrontation and Robbery
The duo allegedly demanded the victim's mobile phone and money, explicitly stating they required funds for purchasing drugs. When Vikas resisted their demands, the situation escalated dramatically. Pradeep reportedly brandished a sharp iron weapon while Rahul used an iron rod to physically assault the victim.
During the violent struggle, Pradeep forcibly took the victim's mobile phone while Rahul snatched his purse, which contained Rs 1,000 in cash, an Aadhaar card, and several personal photographs. The accused then fled the scene on their motorcycle, leaving the victim injured and traumatized.
The victim received initial medical treatment at Civil Hospital and was subsequently transferred to another healthcare facility for further specialized care and observation.
Police Investigation and Arrest
Following the registration of a formal case under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Ludhiana police launched a thorough investigation that led to the successful arrest of Pradeep. The police operation resulted in the recovery of substantial evidence, including:
- The stolen motorcycle used in the crime
- The victim's snatched purse with its contents
- Five mobile phones of various brands
- The iron weapon allegedly used during the robbery
