Ludhiana Police Apprehend Two Suspects in Illegal Weapons Operation

The Ludhiana police have made a significant breakthrough with the arrest of two individuals following the recovery of illegal weapons from their possession. The accused have been identified as Sarabjit Singh, a resident of Boothgarh village, and Manoj Kumar, who hails from Subhash Nagar in the Basti Jodhewal area of Ludhiana district.

Police Action Based on Tip-Off Leads to Arrests

According to police officials, the operation was initiated based on a credible tip-off. On February 18, a specialized team from the special cell of the Ludhiana police conducted a targeted operation near a vacant plot in the Meherban area. During this operation, the two suspects were apprehended by the authorities.

During a thorough search of the accused, the police recovered a 32 bore pistol along with two live cartridges from their possession. This discovery prompted immediate legal action against the individuals involved.

Legal Proceedings and Charges Filed

Following the recovery of the illegal weapons, a formal case was registered against Sarabjit Singh and Manoj Kumar under the stringent provisions of the Arma Act. Subsequently, both accused were officially arrested and taken into police custody for further investigation.

The police have emphasized that this arrest is part of their ongoing efforts to curb the illegal possession and trafficking of weapons in the region. Authorities are continuing their probe to determine the source of the recovered pistol and any potential links to broader criminal activities.

Context of Recent Drug-Related Incidents in Ludhiana

In a separate but related development, Ludhiana police have also been active in combating drug-related crimes. Earlier this week, two individuals were arrested after 320 grams of heroin and Rs 9,000 in suspected drug money were recovered from their possession in Seera village, Meherban area.

The duo was booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. This arrest highlights the police's dual focus on addressing both weapon and drug offenses in the district.

Additionally, a tragic incident earlier this week saw a youth found dead in a forest area along the Sirhind canal. The deceased had been missing for about a fortnight. Family members informed the police that he had a history of drug addiction and had recently been discharged from a drug rehabilitation center in Baddi after a year-long treatment.

These events underscore the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in Ludhiana, with authorities ramping up efforts to tackle illegal activities and ensure public safety across the region.
