The suspects, identified as Kulwinder Singh and Harshdeep Singh, were apprehended at a strategically placed high-tech police checkpoint near the area of Gurusar Kaunke. The Canada-based operative allegedly promised the men a sum of ₹20,000 to execute a specific and targeted criminal task. A portion of this fee had already been paid in advance, highlighting the organized and financially motivated nature of the plot.

The arrests were the result of a highly coordinated effort between the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) staff and the Sadar police unit. Acting on a precise and reliable tip-off, authorities received information that the suspects were traveling toward Ludhiana on an unregistered and stolen motorcycle.
