The victim, identified as Jaspreet Kaur, was commuting in an e-rickshaw with her sister after a shopping trip to the city's bustling Chaura Bazaar. As their vehicle approached the Baba Than Singh Chowk, two individuals on a motorcycle sped past and forcefully grabbed her purse before fleeing the scene. The theft happened in a matter of seconds, leaving the woman distressed and helpless.
Stolen Items and Police Action
According to the police complaint filed by Jaspreet Kaur, the stolen purse contained:
- A gold chain
- A pair of gold earrings
- A mobile phone
- ₹1,500 in cash
- Various personal documents
Police officials confirmed that an FIR has been lodged at the Division Number 3 police station. The case has been registered under Sections 304 (2) and 3(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, highlighting the seriousness of the offense.
