Ludhiana Wedding Celebration Turns Into Bloodbath
A peaceful wedding celebration at a prestigious resort in Ludhiana turned into a scene of terror and violence when two rival gang leaders engaged in a deadly confrontation that claimed two lives and left one person injured.
The incident occurred around midnight on Saturday at the Pakhowal Road resort during the marriage ceremony of local contractor Varinder Kapoor, a resident of Salem Tabri.
The Deadly Confrontation
According to police investigations, the violence erupted between rival gang leaders Shubham Mota and Ankur, both of whom had been invited to the wedding ceremony. The initial argument between the two escalated rapidly under the influence of alcohol.
Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma revealed that both gang leaders arrived at the event accompanied by their aides and were carrying weapons. Sources indicate that Ankur fired the first shot, which Shubham Mota narrowly avoided, prompting retaliatory gunfire.
The situation deteriorated further when Ankur summoned his accomplices, Rubal and Jasvir Jassa, to the venue. The additional gang members arrived and joined the shooting spree, creating panic among the wedding guests.
Casualties and Victims
The indiscriminate firing resulted in two confirmed deaths and one injury. The deceased have been identified as Vasu Chopra (32), a businessman and neighbor of the groom, and Neeru Chhabran (55), the groom's aunt from Jalandhar. Both victims succumbed to bullet injuries sustained during the violent exchange.
The injured person, Jatinder Kumar Dawar, an aide of one of the main accused, sustained a bullet wound and is currently under arrest while receiving medical treatment.
Witnesses reported that over 30 rounds were fired indiscriminately by members of the two rival factions, causing widespread panic among the wedding attendees, who included several VIPs, MLAs, and political leaders.
Aftermath and Investigation
Groom Varinder Kapoor told media personnel that he had just entered the resort and was moving toward the stage when the gunshots erupted, turning his wedding celebration into a tragedy.
Police authorities have confirmed that the rival gang leaders had a history of previous clashes, and the wedding venue became the latest battleground for their ongoing feud. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to apprehend all individuals involved in the violent incident.
The Ludhiana police have intensified their probe into the matter, examining the sequence of events that transformed a joyous occasion into a deadly crime scene that has shocked the local community.
