A tragic incident unfolded in Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh on Friday. A 14-year-old girl from Virar area of Maharashtra allegedly died by suicide. She jumped into a well at Jalud village in Mandleshwar town.

Instagram Friendship Leads to Tragedy

The Class 9 student from Mumbai developed a friendship with Chirag Rathore through Instagram. Rathore, a resident of Jalud village, works in a private job. Their online connection took a serious turn recently.

On the occasion of Chirag's birthday, he traveled to Mumbai. He met the girl there and later brought her back to his village in Jalud. This visit set the stage for the heartbreaking events that followed.

Marriage Dispute Turns Fatal

Mandleshwar police in-charge Deepak Yadav provided details about what happened next. The girl allegedly insisted on marrying Chirag Rathore. However, his parents strongly objected to this proposal.

They pointed out that marriage was not possible because the girl was still a minor. The family asked Chirag to take her back to Mumbai immediately. He attempted to follow their instructions.

When Chirag tried to take the girl back to Mumbai, she refused to go. In a state of extreme distress, she jumped into a nearby well. Chirag immediately jumped in after her in an attempt to rescue the teenager.

Failed Rescue Attempt

Despite his efforts, Chirag could not save the girl. He managed to save himself by clinging to the wall of the well. Yadav stated that Chirag cried for help for nearly thirty minutes. Unfortunately, no immediate assistance arrived during this critical time.

Local residents eventually rescued Chirag from the well. By that time, the girl had already died. Her body was recovered from the well and handed over to her family after a postmortem examination.

Police Investigation Underway

The police revealed additional background information about the case. The girl's parents had filed a kidnapping complaint at Mira-Bhayander police station in Mumbai. They lodged this report on Thursday night after their daughter went missing.

Authorities have sent the viscera for further examination. The investigation into this tragic incident continues as police work to understand all aspects of what happened.
