Police Breakthrough Under SP's Direction
Acting on the directives of Superintendent of Police Kamal Deep Goyal, the CIA team executed a targeted operation that led to the arrest of the main accused, identified as Rakshit, a resident of Khajuri village. A police spokesperson confirmed on Wednesday that Rakshit will be presented before the court, where authorities will seek his remand for further interrogation to uncover additional details and apprehend other individuals involved.
Details of the Tragic Incident
Providing specifics on the case, CIA in-charge Rajkumar detailed that on the evening of February 7, Aditya, a resident of Nagal village in Yamunanagar district, was subjected to a vicious assault with a sharp-edged weapon in Khajuri village. This attack resulted in his untimely death. During the same altercation, Aditya's cousin Arjun and his friend Rajkumar sustained injuries, with Rajkumar suffering a severe neck wound that necessitated ongoing medical treatment.
Case Registration and Investigation
Following the incident, a formal case was registered at the Jathlana police station against Rakshit, his father Pritam Singh, and four to five other associates, all hailing from Khajuri village. To expedite the arrest of the accused, a special police team was constituted, which ultimately led to the successful capture of Rakshit, the alleged perpetrator.
Motive Rooted in College Group Rivalry
Investigations have revealed that the motive behind the crime stems from a long-standing rivalry between rival college groups. Aditya was a student at MLN College in Yamunanagar, while Rakshit studies at Guru Nanak Khalsa College in the city. During questioning, Rakshit disclosed that an initial argument over this group rivalry escalated into verbal abuse exchanged via mobile phones, setting the stage for the violent confrontation.
Escalation to Violence
On the fateful evening of February 7, both groups encountered each other in Khajuri village. It was during this face-off that Rakshit allegedly attacked Aditya and Rajkumar with a knife, inflicting fatal injuries on Aditya. The police are continuing their investigation to identify and arrest the remaining accused individuals involved in this tragic event, ensuring that justice is served for the victims and their families.
