In a significant crackdown, the Bhopal City Police executed a major combing and search operation in the Irani Dera area of the city. The operation led to the arrest of several accused individuals who were wanted in connection with various crimes not only in Bhopal but also in other states.
Police Action Meets Resistance from Locals
According to police officials, the large-scale police action faced resistance from local residents, including women. The situation escalated as force was reportedly used by both sides—the accused along with the locals and the police personnel. At least ten women were arrested specifically for obstructing the police and resisting the action. A separate case has been registered against those involved for hindering the police from performing their official duty.
Massive Haul of Stolen and Fake Items Recovered
The seizure from the Irani Dera raid was substantial and pointed towards organized crime. The recovered items included:
- 21 suspected stolen motorcycles found without any number plates.
- 51 mobile phones.
- Foreign currency notes.
- A fake journalist microphone and a corresponding fake ID card.
- One fake pistol.
- Multiple vehicle number plates from Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, suspected to be counterfeit.
Scale of the Operation and Aftermath
The operation was carried out by multiple police teams from Zone-4 of the Bhopal police. Hundreds of policemen along with Station House Officers (SHOs) were part of this coordinated effort. Following the action in Irani Dera, combing patrols were also extended to other sensitive areas across Bhopal to maintain law and order. The police have emphasized that the operation was aimed at curbing criminal activities and nabbing wanted individuals operating from the locality.
