Police Uncover Prostitution Racket Operating Under Spa Center Guise in Udham Singh Nagar

In a significant crackdown on organized crime, police in Udham Singh Nagar district have dismantled a major prostitution racket that was operating under the cover of spa centers. The operation, conducted late on Sunday night, resulted in the rescue of 19 women and the arrest of 10 individuals involved in the illicit activities.

Operation Prahaar Targets Illegal Spa Centers

Acting on directives from Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Ganpati, authorities launched a special drive named "Operation Prahaar" to combat illegal operations in spa establishments. The initiative was based on intelligence inputs, public complaints, and extensive surveillance, leading to coordinated raids across multiple locations.

Police, in collaboration with the anti-human trafficking unit, conducted simultaneous raids in the Rudrapur, Pantnagar, and Transit Camp areas. During the operations, customers and operators were initially detained for questioning, with evidence gathered to support further legal action.

Additionally, two spa centers in the Transit Camp area faced penalties under the Police Act, receiving fines of Rs 20,000 each for failures in employee verification and inadequate record maintenance.

Rescue and Rehabilitation Efforts

The rescued women have been placed under protective care as part of ongoing efforts to ensure their safety and well-being. Police have coordinated with relevant agencies to conduct medical examinations, provide counselling, and facilitate rehabilitation for the victims. These measures aim to support the women in recovering from their traumatic experiences and reintegrating into society.

Commitment to Law Enforcement

Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Ganpati emphasized the department's dedication to eradicating organized crime and immoral activities. He stated, "We are committed to eliminating organised crime and immoral activities. No individual or establishment found violating the law will be spared under Operation Prahaar." This statement underscores the ongoing efforts to maintain law and order in the region.
