Malappuram School Murder: 16-Year-Old Boy Kills Classmate After Alleged Rape

A shocking crime has rocked the Malappuram district of Kerala. Police found the body of a 14-year-old girl in a bushy area near Thodiyapulam. The gruesome discovery occurred on Thursday morning.

Investigators quickly identified a suspect. They took a 16-year-old boy into custody. This boy attended the same school as the victim. He is currently a Plus One student.

Disturbing Details Emerge

The young girl left her home for school on Thursday morning. She never returned. Her mother reported her missing that night. School authorities confirmed an alarming fact. The girl got off at her usual bus stop but never entered the campus.

Search parties combed the area. They found nothing. Then, around 11 AM on Friday, police made a grim discovery. They located the girl's body near a railway track in Thodiyapulam. This spot lies roughly 15 kilometers from their school.

The victim was still wearing her school uniform. Her hands were tied together in the front with a shawl. A piece of cloth was stuffed into her mouth. Police also recovered her school bag from the scene.

Suspect Confesses to Heinous Crime

Police questioned the 16-year-old boy. He initially denied any knowledge of the incident. However, under further interrogation, his story changed dramatically.

The boy confessed to a horrific sequence of events. He admitted to taking the girl to an isolated location. There, he allegedly raped her. He then strangled her to death.

Investigators believe a specific threat triggered the murder. The girl reportedly told the boy she would inform her parents about the sexual assault. This statement may have prompted him to kill her.

After his confession, the boy led police officers to the exact crime spot.

A Troubled History Between Victim and Accused

This tragedy did not happen in a vacuum. The boy and girl knew each other. They had some form of relationship. The girl's parents strongly disapproved of this connection.

In fact, the family had previously approached the police about the boy's advances. They had filed complaints against him. The situation escalated at the police station itself. The boy allegedly threatened the girl's mother right there.

Teachers described the victim as a bright student. She actively participated in the Student Police Cadet (SPC) programme. Her future looked promising.

In contrast, teachers noted the boy's poor attendance. He had been irregular in classes. He also did not return to school after the recent Christmas holidays.

Investigation and Community Outcry

Nilambur DSP Saju K Aabraham is leading the investigation. His team conducted the inquest proceedings. The victim's body was then moved to the Manjeri Government Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.

The girl's family and relatives are devastated. They expressed deep suspicion that more people might be involved in this crime. They are demanding a thorough and comprehensive police investigation.

This heartbreaking case highlights serious concerns about student safety and adolescent relationships. The local community in Karuvarakundu and Vaniyambalam is in a state of shock and mourning.
