Lucknow: A 26-year-old man was allegedly abducted at knifepoint and assaulted by a group of men over a loan dispute in the Saadatganj area, police said on Sunday.
According to a complaint lodged by the victim, Mohammad Sadaf Siddiqui, a resident of Karim Ganj, Amberganj, he had borrowed ₹1.5 lakh from an individual named Shami Ahmad for a business venture. After incurring losses, he sought additional time to repay the amount.
Siddiqui alleged that on June 6, around 6.15 pm, he was intercepted by Ahmad and 8–10 unidentified associates near an HP petrol pump at Hashiyamau turn on Campbell Road. The accused allegedly demanded immediate repayment and, when he expressed inability, threatened him with a knife.
He was allegedly forced onto a motorcycle and taken to an under-construction building in Sector E of Rajajipuram. There, he was held captive and assaulted with sticks, kicks, and punches. The accused also allegedly smashed his mobile phone and threatened to kill him if the money was not returned the same day.
The victim later managed to escape and sought treatment at a private medical college.
Saadatganj inspector Santosh Arya said an FIR has been registered and efforts are on to identify and arrest the accused.
