A 25-year-old man was abducted in broad daylight outside the Collectorate in Jaipur and dumped hours later near a police station after his family alerted authorities. Police described the incident as a revenge attack linked to a neighbourhood dispute.
Victim came to stand bail for relatives
The victim, identified as Mahendra Kumar (25), a resident of Jaisinghpura Khor, had come to the Collectorate to stand bail for his relatives when he was chased, beaten, and forced into a car by a group of men. The incident took place on Sunday, and the FIR was filed on Monday. Police recovered Kumar on Tuesday.
Ongoing quarrel led to abduction
Police said the incident stemmed from an ongoing quarrel between Kumar's relatives and their neighbours. Two of his relatives had been earlier arrested for breach of peace and were produced at the Collectorate that afternoon. Around 5:30 pm, Kumar stepped out to fill a water bottle when members of the rival group followed him. What began as an argument quickly escalated.
Witnesses said four to five men chased Kumar towards Gate No. 1 of the Collectorate, caught up with him, thrashed him, and shoved him into a car in full public view. Inside the moving vehicle, the assault continued.
Accused panicked after family alerted police
As news of the abduction spread and Kumar's family approached police, the accused panicked. On learning that a complaint had been filed and the Police Control Room was alerted, they abandoned Kumar by the roadside outside Jaisinghpura Khor police station and fled.
Banipark police registered an FIR on a complaint by the victim's relative, Saini, on Monday night and have launched a search for the accused. Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the Collectorate and surrounding routes to identify the vehicle and track down those involved.
