The accused has been identified as Mahammed Rafiq, a 38-year-old resident of Bantwal in Dakshina Kannada district. He was arrested in Bengaluru on Sunday by the Kankanady Town police. City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy CH confirmed the arrest, highlighting the seriousness of the offense.
A case was registered at the Kankanady Town Police Station under sections 196, 353(1), and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). This legal action was initiated after the video was shared on Facebook in October 2025 through an account named ‘Nazeer Mangalore'.

During the investigation, police meticulously obtained details of the Facebook account and confirmed that Rafiq was responsible for sharing the video.
