Kattakada police on Saturday arrested a 50-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a person with learning difficulties at the Kattakkada KSRTC bus stand on May 10. The accused, identified as Shibu alias Bruce Lee Shibu, had been absconding since the incident. The arrest was made based on a tip-off.
Details of the Incident
According to police, the assault took place around 1 a.m. while the woman was sleeping on a bench near the station master's office at the bus stand. KSRTC staff on duty noticed the man behaving suspiciously near the woman and questioned him, following which he left the premises.
Investigation and Arrest
The incident came to light after police examined CCTV footage. Based on the visuals, investigators identified the accused and launched a search operation. Police said Shibu is reportedly involved in multiple criminal cases. The woman was later found near the KSRTC depot premises and was shifted to a shelter home in Kattakada.
