Man Arrested for ATM Break-In Attempt in Chennai

Chennai: A 23-year-old man was arrested on charges of attempting to break into an ATM in Koyambedu. Although no money was taken, officers registered a case and later detained one of the two suspects. A search is underway for the other individual.

Complaint Filed by Bank Manager

The investigation began after Vignesh, 32, the branch manager of a Punjab National Bank office on Razaak Garden Road in Arumbakkam, filed a complaint with the CMBT police station on Friday. According to his complaint, two unidentified men entered the bank’s ATM kiosk on Jawaharlal Nehru Road on Thursday night and attempted to force open the cash cassette inside the machine before fleeing the scene.

Arrest and Remand

Vijay, 23, a resident of Pattabiram in Avadi, was arrested and subsequently remanded in judicial custody. Police are continuing their efforts to locate the second suspect involved in the attempted break-in.
