Hanumangarh Police Arrest Man for Alleged Terror Links on Social Media
In a significant development, Hanumangarh police on Wednesday arrested a 29-year-old man for allegedly establishing contact with a Pakistani terrorist through social media platforms. The accused, identified as Jaswant Kumar, also known as Sonu, is a resident within the limits of the Hanumangarh Town police station.
Details of the Alleged Connection
According to officials, Jaswant Kumar is accused of coming into contact with Pakistani terrorist Shahzad Bhatti via various social media channels. Hanumangarh Superintendent of Police Narendra Singh Meena stated that the accused was actively following Bhatti's social media accounts, which reportedly featured posts displaying weapons and other terror-related content.
Police investigations revealed that Jaswant not only shared these posts but also sent his personal mobile number to Bhatti through electronic communication. Shahzad Bhatti is alleged to be involved in activities aimed at spreading terror and has cultivated a network of followers on social media to further his objectives.
Background of the Accused
The arrest has brought to light the accused's criminal history. Police records indicate that Jaswant Kumar has four previous cases registered against him, including charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and other serious offenses. This background adds a layer of concern to the current allegations, suggesting a pattern of illicit behavior.
Authorities are continuing their probe to determine the full extent of the communication and any potential threats posed by this connection. The case underscores the ongoing challenges law enforcement faces in monitoring and countering terror activities facilitated through digital platforms.
