Faridabad Man Arrested for Brutal Murder of 2-Year-Old Stepson
In a shocking incident from Faridabad's Ballabhgarh area, a 36-year-old man has been arrested for the brutal murder of his two-year-oldld stepson. The accused, identified as Ranbir Singh, a resident of Sishta village in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras district, was taken into custody by police on Wednesday after a thorough investigation uncovered the horrifying truth behind the child's death.
Details of the Tragic Incident
The incident occurred on January 25 when Singh allegedly slammed the toddler on the ground and assaulted him repeatedly, resulting in immediate fatal injuries. According to police officials, the accused initially attempted to pass off the death as an accidental fall from the stairs of their rented accommodation on Sikri Mohalla Road in Ballabhgarh.
The matter came to light after medical examination revealed injuries inconsistent with an accidental fall, prompting authorities to register a case under murder sections at the Sector 58 police station. The child was taken for medical attention where doctors immediately noticed discrepancies in the injury pattern, leading to police intervention.
Police Investigation Unravels the Truth
During interrogation, Singh confessed to the crime and revealed his disturbing motives. The accused had married the child's mother in November 2025 and considered her three children from a previous marriage as burdens. Police investigations revealed that Singh harbored hostility toward all three children and had allegedly planned to eliminate them.
"Singh, who worked as a laborer and lived on rent in Ballabhgarh, confessed to killing the child during our interrogation," stated a police officer involved in the case. "He considered the woman's children from her previous marriage as burdens and had planned to eliminate them."
Sequence of Events and Arrest
According to police reconstruction of events, on Sunday evening, Singh took the two-year-old boy outside their house and walked some distance away from their rented room. It was at this isolated location that he assaulted the child, causing the fatal injuries. After committing the crime, Singh returned home and informed family members that the child had suffered injuries from falling down the stairs.
Police spokesperson Sub-Inspector Yashpal Yadav explained, "The crime was uncovered after inconsistencies were found in the accused's version of events. His initial claim about the toddler falling from stairs didn't match the evidence, and further inquiry along with technical investigation raised serious suspicions."
Additional Concerns and Legal Proceedings
The investigation has revealed that the household included two other children from the woman's previous marriage - a five-month-old girl and a four-year-old boy. Police are currently examining whether the accused harmed or threatened these children as well, given his confessed hostility toward them.
The accused was produced before a local court which granted two days of police remand for further investigation. Authorities are continuing their probe to gather additional evidence and understand the full extent of the accused's actions and intentions regarding the other children in the household.
This tragic case highlights serious concerns about child safety and domestic violence in the region, with police emphasizing their commitment to thorough investigation and justice for the victim.
