Panchkula: A man has been arrested in connection with a sexual offence involving a 14-year-old girl who was allegedly lured on the pretext of marriage. The arrest was made by the local police following a complaint filed by the victim's mother.

According to the complaint, the girl, who was employed as a childcare helper at a residence in Panchkula, went missing on June 5. However, she returned home later the same night. Upon her return, she informed her family that she had been in contact with a local youth through social media platforms.
Legal Action
The police registered a case under the relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. The victim's statement was recorded before a magistrate, and her medical examination was conducted to gather evidence.
The accused was arrested on Sunday and subsequently produced before a court. The court remanded him to judicial custody, where he will remain pending further investigation.
