Hyderabad: The Madhira Rural police arrested a 30-year-old man on Wednesday in connection with the murder of a 28-year-old woman, officials said.
Details of the Incident
According to Wyra ACP Sarangapani, the accused, identified as Y Chennarao, was taken into custody for the murder of G Kalpana, a resident of Meduru village in NTR district. Kalpana worked at a private finance company and went missing on May 15 while traveling to Madhira for work.
Investigation and Arrest
Following a complaint filed by the victim's brother, police launched a search operation and later discovered her body in the Nakshatra Open Venture area near Krishnapuram village. The investigation revealed that the accused and the victim were in a close relationship and had frequent disputes.
Police said that on May 15, Chennarao took Kalpana on his bike to a secluded area near Krishnapuram. During an argument, she allegedly threatened to reveal their relationship to his wife. Enraged, he strangled her to death using a chunni (a scarf).
Police Efforts
The ACP stated that three special teams were formed to track the accused using mobile phone records and witness statements. The accused will be produced before the court subsequently.
