Ludhiana: A man was arrested for allegedly setting his in-laws' house on fire at Baba Nand Singh Nagar in Ayali Kalan following a dispute. The accused, identified as Ashish Tiwari, was taken into custody on Wednesday evening, police said.

Complaint and Incident

In his police complaint, Raj Kumar Shukla, a resident of Ayali Kalan, stated that his daughter Aarti was married to Ashish Tiwari. He alleged that Ashish frequently fought with his wife and her family. On April 22, while Shukla was at work, his wife Sangeeta called to inform him that Ashish had barged into the house carrying a diesel can. According to the complaint, Ashish doused household items with diesel and set them ablaze. He then threatened to kill the family and fled the scene.

Fire and Arrest

Area residents attempted to extinguish the fire, but many household goods were destroyed. Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. SHO of Sarabha Nagar police station confirmed that Ashish was arrested on Wednesday evening, and the diesel can used in the crime was recovered from his possession.
