In a swift action, Lucknow police arrested a man accused of assaulting his wife, leading to her death, within 24 hours in the Madeyganj area. The incident came to light on Wednesday after the victim's brother filed a complaint.
Details of the Incident
According to police, the accused, identified as Monu Rawat, allegedly thrashed his wife Radha (27) on April 19 while under the influence of alcohol. She sustained severe injuries to her head and face and was admitted to Balrampur Hospital, where she died during treatment on Monday.
Complaint and Arrest
The case came to light after the victim's brother, Sonu, a resident of Naya Purwa, filed a complaint alleging that his sister had been brutally assaulted by her husband. Based on the complaint, an FIR was registered at Madeyganj police station under charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
Police traced the accused to a location in Shivnagar Khadra on Wednesday. Acting on the complainant's identification, police arrested Rawat from the spot. The arrest was made within 24 hours of the complaint being filed, showcasing the efficiency of the police force.
