Angamaly Police Arrest 30-Year-Old with 3.2g MDMA Hidden in Face Cream
Man arrested in Angamaly with drugs hidden in face cream

In a significant crackdown, the Angamaly police, in a joint operation with the rural district anti-narcotics squad, apprehended a 30-year-old man on Tuesday for the possession of synthetic drugs. The arrest highlights the innovative methods employed by peddlers to evade law enforcement.

Intelligence-Led Operation Nets Accused

The arrest of Akhil, a native of Vembilly near Angamaly, was not a random check but the result of specific intelligence inputs received by the district police chief. Acting swiftly on this tip-off, authorities intensified surveillance and checks in the area. The coordinated effort led to the successful detention of the accused.

Clever Concealment Foiled by Vigilant Officers

During a detailed inspection, officers made a startling discovery. The contraband, identified as 3.2 grams of MDMA, was not found in a typical hiding spot. Instead, the synthetic drug was cleverly concealed inside a face cream container. It was hidden between layers of the lotion, in what police described as an apparent attempt to bypass routine checks and evade detection during transport.

Investigations revealed that Akhil had allegedly transported the contraband from Bengaluru to Angamaly by bus, using this deceptive method. The sophistication of the concealment indicated a planned effort to smuggle the drugs.

Investigation Aims to Unravel Wider Network

The operation was carried out under the supervision of deputy superintendents J Umesh Kumar and T R Rajesh, with A Ramesh leading the on-ground investigation. While one arrest has been made, the probe is far from over.

A police officer stated that further investigation is underway to determine the source of the drugs and to uncover whether the accused has links to a wider narcotics network. This arrest in Angamaly is seen as a crucial step in potentially disrupting a larger supply chain of synthetic drugs in the region.
