A man was allegedly assaulted after refusing to lend Rs 100 at Maheshpur village under Shikarpur police station area in West Champaran district on Thursday. The victim, identified as Bihari Ram, a resident of the village, sustained serious injuries in the attack. Police have arrested two accused — Muni Lal Ram and Krishna Ram — and sent them to judicial custody.
Details of the Incident
According to the FIR, Muni Lal Ram had borrowed Rs 100 from the victim a day earlier. The next day, he allegedly demanded another Rs 100, but Bihari Ram refused. Enraged over this, the accused planned the attack.
Bihari Ram told police that while passing near Patkhauli village, he was intercepted by Muni Lal Ram, Krishna Ram and another accomplice, Sukat Ram. The trio allegedly assaulted him with an iron rod and sticks, leaving him severely injured and unconscious.
Accused Attempt to Dispose of Victim
Believing him to be dead, the accused allegedly dumped him in bushes and fled. A passing tractor-trolley driver later spotted the injured man and alerted police.
Police personnel, along with the victim's family, rushed him to the sub-divisional hospital, where doctors managed to save his life.
Police Action
Shikarpur SHO Manoj Kumar Singh said a case has been registered based on the victim's statement. “Two accused have been arrested and sent to judicial custody. The third accused, Sukat Ram, is absconding and efforts are on to arrest him,” he said.
