A shocking incident has come to light in Bakhtuni village under Manasa police station limits in Neemuch district, where a man allegedly attacked his wife with an axe while she was sleeping and later died by suicide.
Details of the Incident
According to police, the attack took place around 4 am on Tuesday morning when the woman was asleep at home. The accused allegedly struck her multiple times with an axe, leaving her critically injured. After carrying out the assault, he fled from the house and later died by suicide in a nearby forest area.
Police said the matter surfaced nearly 24 hours after the incident, surprising locals in the area. The crime was discovered when neighbors noticed the woman's absence and alerted authorities.
Police Investigation
Kanjarda outpost in-charge Shyam Kumawat said that police questioned the couple’s daughter and nearby residents during investigation. The daughter informed police that her parents had a minor argument three days ago over preparation of food at home. Investigators said that the exact reason behind the extreme step was still unclear.
Manasa police station in-charge Nilesh Awasthi confirmed the incident and said police are probing the case from all angles. A case has been registered and the body was sent for postmortem examination. The injured woman is undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.
