Pratapgarh Man Brutally Murdered by In-Laws in Lucknow, Wife Held Captive During Assault
In a shocking incident of domestic violence, a 30-year-old man from Pratapgarh was beaten to death by his in-laws at their residence in Lucknow's Aashiana area. The police reported on Thursday that the victim, Vishnu Yadav, was assaulted in front of his wife, Sakshi Singh, who was tied up and gagged during the horrific event.
Revenge for Love Marriage Sparks Fatal Attack
According to police statements, the motive behind the murder stemmed from a longstanding grudge held by Sakshi's family. They allegedly disapproved of her marriage to Vishnu Yadav four years ago, which was conducted against their wishes. The intention, as per investigators, was to teach Vishnu a severe lesson for defying the family's desires.
On March 17, the couple was summoned to Sakshi's parental home located in Sector I, Bangla Bazaar. Upon arrival, Sakshi was immediately overpowered by her family members. Her hands, legs, and mouth were bound, and she was locked in a room with windows left open, rendering her helpless to intervene.
Brutal Assault with Wooden Planks and Iron Rod
The accused then launched a vicious attack on Vishnu Yadav. Police detailed that he was repeatedly struck with wooden planks and an iron rod until he succumbed to his injuries. A police officer described the scene as one of extreme brutality, with the assault continuing relentlessly until the victim's death.
After receiving a distress call via Dial 112, police rushed to the location. They discovered Vishnu's body lying in a pool of blood inside the house, bearing multiple grievous wounds. Sakshi was found in a bound state, showing visible injury marks, and was promptly freed by the authorities.
Six Family Members Arrested, Key Evidence Recovered
Based on a complaint filed by the victim's father, a case was registered under murder and other relevant charges. The investigation led to the arrest of six accused individuals from the area:
- Tirthraj Singh (father-in-law)
- Saroj Devi (mother-in-law)
- Radha, Ratna, Jyoti, and Vidhi (sisters-in-law)
The arrests were made following a tip-off, and all accused have been sent to judicial custody. Police also recovered blood-stained wooden planks and an iron rod, which are believed to have been used in the murder and serve as crucial evidence in the ongoing case.
Sakshi, who was rescued by police, provided a harrowing account to investigators. She stated that her father, mother, and four sisters jointly carried out the murder while she remained confined and unable to assist her husband. This incident highlights severe issues of familial violence and retribution in cases of inter-caste or disapproved marriages, prompting calls for stricter enforcement of laws against such crimes.
