A 50-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by his neighbors over an old dispute in Barji village under Phulpur police station limits on Saturday, according to local authorities.
Incident Details
The deceased, identified as Bhothu Yadav alias Om Prakash Yadav, was attacked by the family members of his neighbor, Nanhelal, while he was sitting near a pumping set close to his house. The victim's nephew, Chintu Yadav, who was working in a nearby field, witnessed the attack and raised an alarm, forcing the assailants to flee. He later identified the attackers as Anish, Dharmraj, and Satyanarayan.
Medical Response
The injured man was rushed to the district hospital's trauma centre. Considering his critical condition, doctors referred him to the trauma centre at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), where he was declared dead on arrival.
Police Action
On receiving information about the incident, ACP Pindra and other officials reached the spot. ACP (Pindra) Prateek Kumar stated on Sunday that the body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and teams have been formed to apprehend the accused. He added that three accused have been arrested so far, and raids are being conducted to catch the main accused.

The attack appears to stem from an old dispute between the families. Authorities are investigating the motive and gathering further evidence. The village has been tense following the incident, with police maintaining a presence to prevent any retaliation.
