Accused Arrested in Sullia for Sexual Assault of Minor
A man has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act in Sullia, Karnataka, for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl. The accused, a neighbour and acquaintance of the victim, is said to have taken advantage of their familiarity to commit the crime.
Incident Details
According to police reports, the assaults occurred multiple times between June 22, 2026, and July 9, 2026. The accused allegedly took the girl to his house on several occasions during this period and sexually assaulted her. The victim, whose age has not been disclosed, knew the accused as a neighbour.
Legal Action
The case was registered at the Sullia police station on July 12, 2026, under the Pocso Act. Police have taken the accused into custody and are conducting further investigations. A senior police official stated, "The accused has been arrested and is being questioned. We are gathering evidence to ensure a strong case."
