Man Dies After Mob Attack for Slitting Woman's Throat

A 28-year-old man, identified as Teja, who allegedly slit a woman's throat in full public view in Jadcherla town on Saturday evening, succumbed to injuries sustained in a subsequent mob attack. The incident occurred after the woman, Y Vaishnavi (21), had repeatedly rejected his romantic proposals.

Details of the Incident

Teja, a resident of Hyderabad, died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Jadcherla town, Mahabubnagar district, on Sunday. According to Jadcherla circle inspector Kamalakar, Teja attacked Vaishnavi, a receptionist at a private school, as she was walking on the road after alighting from a bus.

Police stated that Teja had been continuously harassing and pursuing Vaishnavi for several months despite her repeated rejections. Investigators said the accused became enraged after learning that Vaishnavi's engagement had recently been fixed, which they suspect could be the motive behind the attack.

Mob Attack on the Accused

Soon after the attack on Vaishnavi, local residents chased Teja, captured him, and tied his hands. The crowd then allegedly assaulted him with stones, inflicting severe injuries. He was rescued by police and admitted to a hospital, where he later died during treatment. According to police, Teja had a criminal history. He was recently remanded in custody for an unrelated attempt-to-murder case near Adibatla and was out on bail at the time of the attack.

Police Investigation

Police have identified several individuals allegedly involved in the attack on Teja, but no arrests have been made so far. The police have launched simultaneous investigations into both incidents. A murder case has been registered regarding the mob assault that resulted in Teja's death.

The authorities are now probing the circumstances surrounding the attack on Vaishnavi and the subsequent mob violence. Further updates are awaited as the investigation progresses.
