A tragic road accident in East Delhi's Kalyanpuri area claimed the life of a 30-year-old man and left another person critically injured on Wednesday night. The incident occurred when the motorcycle they were riding collided with an auto rickshaw near the Kalyanpuri flyover.
Details of the Incident
According to police officials, the deceased has been identified as Ravi Kumar, a resident of Ghaziabad. He was riding pillion on the bike driven by his friend, identified as Sonu, 28. The duo was heading towards Mayur Vihar when a speeding auto rickshaw hit their bike from the side. The impact was so severe that both riders were thrown off the motorcycle and landed on the road.
Passersby immediately alerted the police and rushed the injured to a nearby hospital. However, Ravi Kumar was declared brought dead by the doctors. Sonu, who sustained multiple fractures and head injuries, is currently undergoing treatment at the ICU of a private hospital in Noida. His condition is stated to be critical.
Police Action
The local police reached the spot soon after receiving the information and seized both the motorcycle and the auto rickshaw. The auto driver, identified as Pradeep Singh, has been taken into custody for questioning. A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at the Kalyanpuri police station. Investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the accident, including whether the auto rickshaw was being driven recklessly or if the bike was at fault.
