Man Dies by Suicide After Alleged In-Laws Harassment in Nalanda

A 30-year-old man allegedly died by suicide after consuming poison at Rampur village under the Islampur area of Nalanda district on Thursday. Before his death, he recorded a video accusing his in-laws of harassment and mental pressure.

Victim Identified

The deceased was identified as Rajballabh Prasad. According to family members, Rajballabh had married a woman from Jehanabad about one-and-a-half months ago after the couple eloped and registered a court marriage. The woman’s family had opposed the relationship and later lodged an abduction case against him.

Allegations of Harassment

The victim’s brother alleged that Rajballabh was under severe mental stress due to continuous legal pressure and harassment. He also claimed that a demand of Rs 20 lakh was made to settle the dispute and that police had earlier detained the couple in connection with the case.

Incident Details

On Thursday, Rajballabh was found unconscious in a field near Rampur Khandha, about 2 km from his home. He was rushed for treatment but later died. Islampur police said the body has been sent for post-mortem and a probe is underway.
