Man Dies by Suicide in Nalanda, Family Alleges Murder

Biharsharif: A 27-year-old man, identified as Bade Mahto, allegedly died by suicide at Kasimchak village under the Deepnagar police station area in Nalanda district on Saturday night. His body was found hanging inside a room at his house. While the initial probe suggests suicide, the family has alleged that it was a pre-planned murder.

Family Allegations

According to relatives, Mahto had married his sister-in-law, Kajal Devi, after the death of his elder brother. He was facing tensions over land disputes and a strained relationship with his wife. The victim’s brother has accused Kajal of being involved in the incident, claiming there were frequent arguments and suspicious movements on the night of the incident. Kajal, however, has denied the allegations.

Police Investigation

Deepnagar station house officer Suman Kumar said a case of harassment has been registered based on a complaint lodged by the deceased’s mother. “Mahto was allegedly subjected to mental harassment and was even denied food. We are investigating all possible angles. The exact cause of death will be ascertained after the post-mortem report,” Kumar said, adding that the deceased was mentally unstable.
