A 35-year-old man was discovered dead under mysterious circumstances inside the bathroom of his residence in Mohalla Sheranwala, Kapurthala, on Saturday. The incident came to light after neighbors alerted the police about a strong foul smell emanating from the house.
Discovery of the Body
The deceased, identified as Varinder Kumar Aggarwal, had been living alone since the death of his parents. He was unmarried and resided by himself in the house. Local residents noticed an unpleasant odor coming from the property and promptly informed the authorities. A police team from the City Police Station arrived at the scene and, upon inspection, found Aggarwal’s body lying inside the bathroom.
Initial Investigation
According to police sources, the man is believed to have died two to three days before the discovery. Investigators suspect that he may have suffered a sudden medical emergency while bathing, causing him to collapse in the bathroom. However, the exact circumstances leading to his death remain unclear. Officials noted that Aggarwal was known to have occasional health-related seizures, which may have contributed to the incident.
The body has been sent to the civil hospital for a post-mortem examination. City Police Station SHO Amandeep Nahar stated that the precise cause of death will only be determined after the post-mortem report is received. Further investigations are underway to rule out any foul play.
Community Reaction
The incident has left the local community in shock, as Aggarwal was known to keep to himself. Neighbors expressed concern over the delay in discovering the body, highlighting the risks faced by individuals living alone. Police have urged residents to check on elderly or solitary neighbors regularly to prevent such tragedies.
Authorities are awaiting the post-mortem results to conclude the investigation. No arrests have been made, and the case is currently being treated as an unnatural death pending further evidence.
