Man Found Dead in Chandigarh's Maloya, Suspected Suicide

A tragic incident unfolded in Chandigarh's Maloya area on Saturday morning, where a 34-year-old man was discovered dead in his residence in what police suspect to be a case of suicide.

Family Discovers the Tragic Scene

The deceased has been identified as Kuldeep, popularly known as 'Kaka'. The alarm was first raised by his younger brother, Bhomkas, who lives on the ground floor of the same property. Concerns grew when Kuldeep remained confined to his upstairs room for an unusually extended period.

When family members went to check on him, they found the door locked from the inside. Peering through a window, they made the grim discovery of Kuldeep's body hanging from a ceiling fan. No suicide note was found at the scene.

Police and Forensic Investigation Launched

Emergency services, including a forensic team and an ambulance from the Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH) in Sector 16, were promptly called to the Maloya house. Police have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC.

The investigating officer stated, "The reasons for the suicide have not been ascertained yet. Statements of the members of Kuldeep's family have been recorded, and the matter is being investigated." The body has been moved to GMSH-16 for a post-mortem examination.

Background of the Deceased

According to the family, Kuldeep worked as a daily wage labourer. He had been living alone following his divorce. Both his parents are deceased. He is survived by three brothers, all of whom reside on the lower floor of the Maloya house. The police confirmed that further legal course of action will be determined based on the findings of the autopsy report.
